The Texas State football team is looking for their fifth straight win this weekend as they take on the Lamar Cardinals. After record-setting crowds in their first two home games of the 2011 season, another large crowd is expected on Saturday. The athletic department has sent out emails telling faculty and students to attend the game so the record of 16,600 fans set in 1981 can be broken.
In the first game of the year against Tarleton State, more than 15,800 fans attended. A crowd of 15,500 attended the second home game of the season when the Bobcats took on Nicholls State.
Bobcat Stadium, which has a capacity of 16,000, will expand for the 2012 season to almost 30,000. This will create a better atmosphere for fans and will most likely draw larger crowds when the team faces FBS schools.
