With two wins this week, the Texas State volleyball team earned the No. 1 seed for next week's Southland Conference Tournament. The Bobcats won the I-35 Rivalry against UTSA, 3-1, in an emotional game to help the Bobcats push ahead of the Roadrunners in the conference standings.
A Texas State win on Saturday against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi gave the Bobcats an outright SLC Regular Season Championship.
The Bobcats will face Northwestern State, a team they have beat twice already this season, on Friday, Nov. 19.
The Bobcats are peaking at just the right time, having lost just two games since Sept. 16.

Texas State fall sports update
This semester has been a great time to be a Bobcat! Here is what has been going on in Bobcat sports the past three months:
The Texas State women's soccer team advanced to their fifth NCAA Tournament since 1999 and will face Baylor on Saturday in Waco. The team slipped by Sam Houston State in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament, winning 3-1 in penalty kicks. In the finals, the Bobcats upset No. 1 SFA, 1-0.
The Bobcat volleyball team has had one of their most successful seasons in school history, going 22-7 with two regular season matches remaining. The team is currently tied for first in the SLC but can move ahead of UTSA with a win tonight against the Roadrunners.
The Texas State cross country teams showed much improvement from the 2010 season with two athletes capturing all-conference honors at the SLC Championships. The Bobcat women will head to Waco this weekend to compete in the South Central Regional after finishing the season ranked No. 9 in the region. The Bobcat men earned their first ranking of the year after the SLC Championships with the No. 15 spot.
The Bobcat football team has had ups and downs throughout the season. The team proved they could compete with FBS schools through a majority of the 60 minutes. However, the outcomes proved to be less promising. After starting 0-2 to open the season, the Bobcats went on a five-game winning streak before falling to two Southland opponents. With two games remaining in the 2011 season, the Bobcats will look to end their season on a positive note.

It's beginning to feel like the end
This post is totally different from my previous ones, but I feel now is a good time to describe the emotions my senior year is beginning to leave on me.
Tuesday, Nov. 1 was my last volleyball game to attend at Strahan Coliseum. The team played hard and it was definitely a memorable game against Baylor. However, the Bobcats lost in five sets. Over the past two years, I have enjoyed watching the Bobcats win a majority of their games at home. I have also began to love the game and watch my Bobcats play it.
This Thursday will be my LAST game when I go to San Antonio to watch us play UTSA for the conference regular season title. Nothing would be better than beating those pesky Roadrunners! I'm not sure what I will do next year without my Bobcat sports!
I am looking forward to working with the track and field team once again this year! We will host the Southland Conference Championships May 11-13. That will be at the same time I graduate so it will be a busy and emotional week for me.
I'm also excited Texas State gets to host the conference baseball tournament once again this year at the end of May. The Bobcats advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year so I hope they can do it again this year with many of our top players returning for the 2012 season!
With still six months left before I walk the stage, I also realize time is coming and going very quickly. I hope it will be a memorable last semester at Texas State University!

Bobcat Volleyball at the top of the SLC
After a UTSA loss to Sam Houston State over the weekend, the Bobcats control their own destiny in looking to capture their last Southland Conference title.
The Bobcats and Roadrunners will meet Thursday, Nov. 10 in San Antonio for a chance to take control of the SLC. Both teams are currently 13-1 in the SLC with only two games remaining before the conference tournament.
The Bobcats are currently on a 13-game conference winning streak and have won 13 of their past 15 games on their way to a 22-7 record.
Out of their seven losses this season, four have gone to five sets (Alabama, Utah State, Houston Baptist and Baylor).
